Arundhati Bandhakala is a part of the Arundhati Group. The journey began with Arundhati Jewellers—today recognised as Odisha’s leading jewellery brand, known for artistic designs, timeless aesthetics, and enduring customer trust.
The foundation of the group was laid in the year 2000 by technocrat and entrepreneur Shri Brahmananda Meher from his native district headquarters, Balangir. What began as a first-generation business with a small 200-square-foot store and a team of five employees gradually evolved into one of Odisha’s most recognised retail groups.
Over the years, the Arundhati Group expanded through an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, customer experience, quality, and cultural values, building a strong legacy across jewellery and allied sectors while employing over 1,500 individuals across Odisha.
Rooted deeply in the cultural landscape of western Odisha, the founders envisioned Arundhati Bandhakala as a return to their origins—an initiative dedicated to celebrating and strengthening Odisha’s handloom heritage and the extraordinary artistry of its weaving communities.
Derived from Odisha’s traditional tie-and-dye weaving practices, Bandhakala carries within it the essence of generations of craftsmanship shaped patiently by hand. Working closely with weavers and designers, the brand creates handwoven sarees that preserve the integrity of traditional weaving while evolving through contemporary design language, refined colour stories, and wider global relevance.
As part of its larger commitment towards the future of Odisha handloom, Arundhati Bandhakala is also developing the Sonepur Handloom Park—a visionary initiative aimed at strengthening the ecosystem surrounding the craft through infrastructure, design innovation, market accessibility, and sustainable opportunities for artisan communities.
Envisioned with the capacity to support nearly 3,000 weavers and artisans, the initiative seeks to create a collaborative platform where traditional knowledge and contemporary possibilities can grow together, while keeping the artisan at the heart of the journey.
