Our Legacy

Arundhati Bandhakala is an initiative to support and revive the rich handloom tradition of Odisha. Once a thriving hub of skilled weavers, the region has seen a decline due to financial struggles, outdated tools, and limited market reach.

To help the weaving community, we are setting up an integrated handloom research and development unit in Sonepur with 3,000 looms spread over 10 acres of land. This centre will provide modern facilities, better weaving tools, and training programs to help artisans improve their skills while keeping their traditional craft alive.

Our aim is to create a better future for weavers by giving them a structured workplace, fair earnings and wider market opportunities. By promoting their products and providing the right support, we want to ensure a stable and sustainable income for them.

Arundhati Bandhakala is more than just a weaving centre—it is a step toward preserving Odisha’s handloom heritage while bringing innovation and growth to the weaving community.

Mission
  • To establish an integrated handloom unit that provides state-of-the-art infrastructure, research facilities, and modern weaving tools.
  • To support weavers with training, skill development and financial aid to enhance productivity and economic well-being.
  • To promote and market handloom products through strategic collaborations, ensuring global reach and fair trade opportunities.
  • To preserve the rich artisanal heritage by encouraging innovation in design while maintaining traditional craftsmanship.
  • To create a sustainable and eco-friendly workspace that prioritizes ethical production practices and community well-being.
Vision

Arundhati Bandhakala envisions a future where Odisha’s handloom tradition is not just preserved but flourishes as a sustainable and globally recognized industry. Our goal is to create a thriving ecosystem where artisans are empowered with modern resources, financial stability and a dignified livelihood while keeping their age-old craftsmanship alive.

We strive to
  • Revive and sustain Odisha’s traditional weaving by integrating advanced techniques without losing cultural authenticity.
  • Empower weavers with better infrastructure, training and market opportunities to ensure fair earnings and financial security.
  • Create a structured and self-sufficient handloom industry by transforming unorganized weaving clusters into a well-managed, large-scale cottage industry.
  • Promote Odisha’s handloom on a global scale through strategic marketing, collaborations, and digital outreach, ensuring that artisans receive the recognition they deserve.
  • Develop a sustainable and eco-friendly production model by using green technology, ethical practices, and responsible sourcing of materials.
  • Encourage the younger generation to take pride in this heritage by providing career opportunities, research facilities, and a strong support system for innovation.

By blending tradition with innovation, we aim to make handloom weaving a respected and profitable profession ensuring that Odisha’s artisans continue to weave their legacy for generations to come.
